Assiah, the realm of humans, and Gehenna, the realm of demons.
Normally, these two dimensions would never intersect,
but having possessed all material substances,
the demons are now intruding on the material world.
But among the human race, there are those who can exorcist such demons – the Exorcists.
Blue Exorcist, a highly popular manga series by Kazue Kato,
began its serialization in 2009 in Shueisha's monthly shonen manga magazine Jump Square and has over 25 million copies in print.
The Blue Exorcist anime project started off in 2011 as the TV anime series Blue Exorcist. Following the release of the TV series,
Blue Exorcist: The Movie was released in 2012, integrating anime-specific story elements with the original story from the manga.
The TV series continued with the broadcast of the second cour, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga in 2017, turning volumes 5 to 9 of the manga into anime.
Coming in 2024, the TV anime series will find itself renewed with Blue Exorcist -Shimane Illuminati Saga-,
bringing to life the story following the Kyoto Saga.
Fierce realities, strong bonds, and betrayals will be revealed with the coming of the Illuminati, an organization shrouded in mystery.
A new chapter of upheaval is about to begin…
Rin and his friends successfully defeated the Impure King after his revival in Kyoto and have returned to their daily lives at True Cross Academy.
However, the Knights of the True Cross begin receiving an increasing number of consultations about demons as a wave of strange events begins to spread across the world. Meanwhile, Rin and the other Exwires work to solve the mysterious phenomenon plaguing the school.
But as the True Cross Academy Festival is in full swing, Lucifer, the King of Light and Commander-in-Chief of the Illuminati, suddenly appears.
Lucifer declares war on the Knights of the True Cross – to resurrect the demon god Satan and rejoin the realm of humans, Assiah, and the realm of demons, Gehenna, as one.
And to do so, he states that Izumo is necessary for a certain “plan".
